temp home for the month

August 28, 2010
I am still here in Good ol Petersburg using the internet at the local library.  I feel like I have been here forever but still seem to find something new to do every day.  Every town, big or small, is what you make of it.  I am certainly ready to get out of here and head back down to Seattle and some civilization.  We have guests coming next week then we will start heading back down.

Flating Glacier Ice off LeConte Glacier

Alaskan Cocktail  = Glacier Ice and Scotch

This has been an experience of a lifetime and I am so thankful for this seclusion, I think everyone needs to experience it.  Slow, simple, easy.

Herring for bait

Halibut - Sorry for the blood bath

Here are some photos since we got here.  Jordan I am rented a car and got to explore the island….all 32 miles of road:o)  It only took us 5 hours to drive, hike a couple of hours before we ran out of things to do.  It was nice to get off the boat and drive a car!  I really have taken that for granted!  This place is lush, green, and alive.

Dark Tannic Rivers run throughout Alaska

The three lakes hike was unbelievable.  The trail is all boardwalk!  The ground is so wet and boggy that there is no way there could be that path without it.  We ran into some local forest service kids doing maintence on it and got the whole scoop and were able to thank them for such a wonderful trail. All of the wood is brought in by a helicopter.  It looked like a lot of work.

I learned last night at the pub that these guys would pack up outboard motors for those row boats and inner tube behind it! haha, good ol red neck fun.

Back down the road

  1. Great pictures Macy! I told Mark you said thanks, looks like a great gig! We miss you too, but love following your adventures. Mark's sister lives in Petersburg, she does nails. If you go into town ask for Gaye Nyberg and tell her who you are, what a kick!
